Retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) is a type of surgical intervention that is minimally invasive and aims to address urinary tract issues such as kidney stones and other abnormalities. This procedure utilizes a slender and flexible tool known as a ureteroscope that can be inserted into the urethra and maneuvered upwards through the bladder and into the kidney.

Double J stent placement/removal is one of the most common minimally invasive techniques in urology. After kidney stone surgery, the indwelling Double J stent (ureteral stent) requires subsequent removal via cystoscopy.

LTCBDE is a minimally invasive procedure performed laparoscopically. The cystic duct is incised to allow insertion of the choledochoscope for exploration of the common bile duct and intra/extrahepatic bile ducts. Upon identifying stones, they are extracted through the cystic duct using retrieval baskets or lithotripsy devices. After confirming no residual stones, the cystic duct is sutured with absorbable suture material, a drain is placed, and the procedure is completed.

LCBDE: Laparoscopic Common Bile Duct Exploration is a minimally invasive procedure that uses laparoscopic techniques to explore and remove stones from the common bile duct, often concurrently addressing gallbladder stones. It is indicated for patients with common bile duct stones with or without concomitant gallbladder stones. The choledochoscope is inserted through an incision in the common bile duct. Continuous irrigation with saline maintains a clear visual field for sequential exploration of the intrahepatic bile ducts, extrahepatic bile ducts, and the sphincter of Oddi. If stones are located in the common bile duct or intrahepatic ducts, a retrieval basket is passed through the choledochoscope's working channel to ensnare and gently remove the stones. If stones are large or impacted, they may first be fragmented using grasping forceps, laser lithotripsy, or electrohydraulic lithotripsy (EHL) before being removed in pieces.

A percutaneous transhepatic cholangiogram(PTC)with a choledochoscope is an advanced medical procedure that combines percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography (PTC) with choledochoscopy to directly visualize the bile ducts and manage conditions like bile duct stones or strictures, especially when endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is not possible or has failed. In this combined procedure, a radiologist first gains access to the bile ducts through the skin and liver, inserts a choledochoscope (a small endoscope) into the bile ducts, and uses it to perform treatments such as stone fragmentation or extraction under imaging guidance.
